Challenge

What was the challenge?

In Australia, rapid population growth and the housing crisis are accelerating new development. Communities like Aura are essential, creating homes, jobs and opportunity, but they also bring environmental impacts. Already home to more than 10,000 residents and awarded a 6-Star Green Star Communities rating, Aura has strong sustainability credentials, but real change depends on the behaviour of its residents.

Being sustainable isn’t always easy, especially when you’re starting in a new home. It requires knowledge, motivation, and the confidence to make the right choices. While many residents moving into Aura care about the environment, it’s hard to know where to start, and even harder to keep it up.

Stockland had embedded sustainability into the community’s design. The next challenge was behavioural: how to help thousands of new residents live in a way that matched that ambition.

Solution

What did we do next?

Less waste, more savings. Made simple. We created EcoSavvy, a web experience that takes the guesswork out of sustainable living. Built as an interactive tool, it lets residents explore a virtual home, room by room, to discover quick wins, smart swaps and long-term tips for saving energy, water and money. It’s like having a sustainability coach in your pocket. Making greener living feel easy, accessible and rewarding.
